We have a recessed area in two areas in our new house. I have decided to take three photos of items of nature that we see alot in this area. This is the first one. cool huh.

Close up
As you can see - my style is quite different to most. There are no rules. You don't have to have the whole horse in the photo lol. I love this because Garbo's mane looks all fluffy - and by the way - he is all fluffy at the moment with his winter coat coming through.
f 4.o and 1/320
Sunset
This would have been better had Garbo's nose not been in the shadow of thr rail. But I still like it.
Settings f 5.0 and 1/100 shutter speed.

Dog action
For assignment 3 - I need three dog action photos.
These are the ones I have narrowed down to so far. Still not 100% happy with any of them - I don't feel I yet have the perfect shot.

NZ Xmas tree
f/4.0 and 1/800
OK - so this isn't of an animal - but I reckon it's cool just the same. Taken at Raglan walking back from town to the plane, on New Years Eve.

Maraschino
I guess I have the patience to wait for a good still close up - but I find them easier to take (more success)...
Maraschino is such a good subject.

Woodhill Mini ODE
My first attempt to photograph at a show. Luckily this venue is just down the road (literally). Not the type of photo a rider wants to see... but I thought it was a great action freeze!f/5 - 1/500
The back ground was not great and it was hard to position myself (not in the ring) so that the horse was not behind part of the jump.f/7.1 - 1/500
My favourite one of the day (maybe because the horse was still!)f/4.5 - 1/500

Yellow flowers
I know - not an animal piccy either - but love this one. It was published in the Falco Builders newsletter (colour) in USA.

New lens
My tutor suggested I get a zoom lens so that the proportions were more accurate. So I got one for myself for my birthday - and tried it out on everyone that would let me.
It's a EF 70-200mm USM. The results already are fantastic... even though I am taking a while to get used to the weight - this photo shoot had heaps of blurry ones.

Blue and Laza
This was my first go at light and dark (at the same time)...quite tricky to get the right setting. You can see Blue's face clearly but Laza's is darker.
